Daines Fights Back Against Senseless EPA Regulations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Daines announced today that he has helped introduce legislation that will provide Montana farmers and ranchers with relief from costly and burdensome Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel storage regulations. Daines serves as an original co-sponsor of the Farmers Undertake Environmental Land Stewardship (FUELS) Act, which eases the EPA’s Oil Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) rules for small farmers and ranchers by modifying the exemption level to be more reflective of a producer’s spill risk and financial resources.

Energy and Commerce Members Outline Bipartisan Solution to Build Keystone XL Pipeline

WASHINGTON, DC – House Energy and Commerce Committee leaders today outlined a new path forward on the Keystone XL pipeline, releasing a discussion draft of legislation that will remove the project’s fate from the president’s hands and clear away the roadblocks preventing construction of the pipeline. The draft legislation, authored by Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE), will eliminate the need for a Presidential Permit and find that the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) issued by the Secretary of State on August 26, 2011, shall satisfy all NEPA requirements. The legislation also limits the legal challenges that can be brought against the project to prevent further unnecessary delays.
