WASHINGTON, D.C. - Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, this week introduced legislation with Rep. Lee Terry to expedite work on the Keystone Pipeline, which would create 1,200 private sector jobs in Montana. H.R. 6164 permits work to begin on the northern portion of the pipeline, while environmental assessment continues in Nebraska. In March, the Obama Administration approved work on southern portions of the privately funded infrastructure project, but nothing north of Nebraska. Read more »

WASHINGTON D.C. – Last week, Congressman Cory Gardner (R-CO) was stunned by objections from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to legislation that would increase state control over forest management decisions in high-risk areas, like those infected by the bark-beetle epidemic. Specifically, the legislation that BLM objects to would allow governors and state officials the ability to more efficiently remove beetle-killed trees that lead to unhealthy forests and add fuel to wildfires. WASHINGTON, D.C. - Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today urged House leadership to make passage of the 2012 farm bill a priority prior to the August District Work Period. Last week, the House Agriculture Committee passed their version of the farm bill, H.R. 6083, the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management (FARMM) Act, with strong bipartisan support, approving the measure 35-11.
