Washington, D.C. (February 2, 2015) – Today, the Obama Administration released its Budget Plan for Fiscal Year 2016. Western Caucus Chairman Cynthia Lummis (WY-At Large) released the following statement in response to the announcement: “President Obama’s 2016 budget is the same stale list as his 2015 budget: increase costs, increase taxes, increase spending, and never balance,” said Chairman Lummis. “No thanks to this Administration’s anti-energy policies, our economy is finally showing signs of recovery largely due to low gasoline prices and an energy boom on private lands. This has raised disposable income for American families and reinvestment opportunities for job creators. Despite these positive strides, the President wants to stifle low and middle income Americans with higher electricity rates and erect barriers to energy production on federal lands and waters. This budget does not work for America and it most certainly does not work for the west. But now with a new majority in the Senate, Congress has a real opportunity to pass a working budget, instead of a wish list of talking points and political pandering, that can address our growing national debt and the needs of the American people.” ### |
