6/24/12: Lamborn Update on Waldo Canyon Fire

Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) is at the Colorado Springs Fire Department Mobile Command Center this morning for another update on the Waldo Canyon Fire burning west of Colorado Springs.

Congressman Lamborn has been in communication with the 302nd Airlift Wing at Peterson, Air Force Base and is assured they stand ready to mobilize at the direction of the incident commanders on the ground. Under federal law, military assets can only be deployed when all similar civilian assets are depleted. Although that point has not yet been reached, it is expected that that will happen later today or tomorrow.
