Media Advisory: House Committee to Discuss Representative Gosar's Wildfire Prevention Bill

With over 900 wildfires burning throughout the United States, especially in Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico, Congressman Gosar is pleased to announce that on Friday, July 20 the House Natural Resource Committee will take up his Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Act of 2012 (H.R. 5744).

With over 900 wildfires burning throughout the United States, especially in Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico, Congressman Gosar is pleased to announce that on Friday, July 20 the House Natural Resource Committee will take up his Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Act of 2012 (H.R. 5744).

The Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Act of 2012 removes bureaucratic red tape that is threatening the environment, hurting economic growth and endangering residents who live near public lands.  Specifically, itwould implement a streamlined federal review process and allow the federal government to use the emergency provisions of existing regulations to expedite grazing and forest thinning projects in order to help prevent wildfires.

Representative Scott Tipton’s (R-Colo.) Healthy Forest Management Act of 2012 (H.R. 6089) and Representative Ed Markey's (D-Mass.) Depleting Risk from Insect Infestation, Soil Erosion, and Catastrophic Fire Act (H.R. 5960) will also be discussed at the hearing.
