CONFIRMED: Katharine MacGregor, to be Deputy Secretary of the Interior

Today, Members of the Western Caucus released the following statements applauding the confirmation of Katharine MacGregor, of Pennsylvania, to be Deputy Secretary of the Interior:

"Senate confirmation of Kate MacGregor as the second woman to serve as Deputy Secretary of Interior is long overdue, but today the Department now has confirmed one of the hardest working people in Washington. I believe her ethic and hard work will leave the American people shocked by how much energy and electricity she brings to the job. As someone who has dedicated her career to public service she is an asset to President Trump, Secretary Bernhardt, and our entire country." said Chairman Paul Gosar (AZ-04).

"As we’ve witnessed at the Committee and Department, she’s a tremendous talent with energy, vision, and expertise.  I am thrilled to see Kate confirmed for this important position, and I look forward to working with her, Secretary Bernhardt, and the talented team at the Department in the months ahead," said Chairman Emeritus Rob Bishop (UT-01).

"Kate MacGregor was a valuable member of the Natural Resources Committee team, and I know my colleagues on the committee agree. I am pleased that the Senate has confirmed her as Deputy Secretary of the Interior, and look forward to continuing our work together to advance Alaska’s priorities," said Vice-Chairman for Indian Affairs and Fisheries Don Young (AK-At Large).

"Kate is a hard worker and as smart as they come. She will do a great job working with diverse stakeholders to manage America's vast resources," said Vice Chairman for Oceans and Ocean Energy Garret Graves (LA-06).

"DOI has a rich history of protecting natural resources and advancing conservation efforts, and Ms. MacGregor will further these goals in her new role. I congratulate her on her confirmation and look forward to working with her," said Vice-Chairman for Infrastructure and Forestry Bruce Westerman (AR-04).

"Kate MacGregor understands our priorities in Central Washington. I look forward to working with her to improve the management of our public lands, update water infrastructure throughout the West, and continue to address the crisis of missing and murdered indigenous women. Congratulations, Kate! I know you will excel as Deputy Secretary at Interior," said Vice-Chairman for Departments of Interior and Energy Dan Newhouse (WA-04).

"Kate MacGregor is the perfect choice to be Deputy Secretary of the Interior. She is well-versed on the issues and the God-given vast natural resources which make our country great, including what we have in northern Minnesota. I look forward to the Senate overwhelmingly supporting this qualified choice," said Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08).

"Deputy Secretary of the Department of Interior is an important role, and I can think of no one better to fill the role than Kate MacGregor. Through her experience on the Hill and at the Department, she has a unique and deep understanding of the work in her purview, and I applaud her confirmation. She will serve the American people well," said Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06).

"Congratulations to Kate MacGregor on her confirmation as Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior! President Trump made an outstanding pick in Kate. I have no doubt she will honorably lead the department to implement the goals of the Trump Administration. I look forward to working with her in this new capacity," said Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-03).

"Kate MacGregor is a great addition to the Department of Interior. I am pleased to see someone with her strong natural resources background serving in a department that has responsibility for large portions of Utah. I expect to see Kate leading in a way that encourages common sense management of our natural resources," said Congressman Chris Stewart (UT-02).

"I applaud the Senate for confirming Deputy Secretary of the Interior, Katharine MacGregor, and working swiftly to confirm President Trump’s nominees despite dealing with partisan impeachment distractions. President Trump is committed to ensuring that the most intelligent and talented leaders serve within his Administration; this is yet another example of Promises Made and Promises Kept by President Trump," said Congressman Steve Watkins (KS-02).

"I am pleased the Senate has confirmed Katharine MacGregor, of my home state of Pennsylvania, to be the Deputy Secretary of the Interior. Having worked with Kate for several years when she was with the House Natural Resources Committee, I can attest her knowledge federal lands management policy is unparalleled," said Congressman Glenn "GT" Thompson (PA-15).

"The Department of Interior has an important role for the territories and having the most senior leadership established can only be a benefit. Kate MacGregor has the right qualities and experience for this key leadership role," said Congresswoman Aumua Amata Radewagen (AS-At Large).
