Montana Congressman Steve Daines today announced his membership in the Congressional Western Caucus. Co-chaired by Wyoming Representative Cynthia Lummis, the Caucus has advocated for Western and rural interests in Congress for twenty years.

“I look forward to working alongside Representative Lummis and the members of the Congressional Western Caucus to help strengthen our rural communities and advocate for the needs of Western states like Montana,” Daines stated. “Out West, we know that jobs are created by small businesses, not big government, and that you can’t spend more than you take in. These common sense, Montana principles are desperately needed in Washington and will be critical as we work toward solutions to get our country back on track.”

“I’m delighted to welcome my neighbor to the north Representative Daines to the Congressional Western Caucus and the 113th Congress,” Representative Lummis added. “His experience with both small and international businesses will play an important role in the Caucus’ drive to encourage Western business growth and break from Washington’s regulatory red tape. We’re excited to welcome him to the team and are confident Rep. Daines is up to the challenges of protecting and fighting for the West in Washington.”

The mission of the Western Caucus is to enhance, sustain, and preserve the West’s dynamic and unique culture, and to find innovative solutions that address the distinctive concerns facing western and rural communities. The Western Caucus is also committed to protecting private property, strengthening local control, promoting economic growth, and increasing energy independence.
