Today, Representative Matt Salmon (AZ-05) released the following statement regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed regulations on the Navajo Generating Station. 

“While I am glad to see there has been movement towards a compromise, I remain deeply concerned these regulations could affect the cost of energy and water throughout Arizona, and, at the same time, put hundreds of Native American jobs at risk in a community that is dependent on this critical source of employment.  My message to the EPA is this: more needs to be done to safeguard the livelihood and economic security of Arizonans.  Let us work together to make economically smart decisions rather than adhere to a radical environmentalist agenda that continues to wage a war on coal and energy development.

“I look forward to working with my colleague in the Arizona delegation to address these real concerns and ensure the continued economically viable operation of this regionally vital power plant.”
