Washington, May 8 - Congressman Mike Pompeo, along with Congressmen Jim Matheson, Pete Olson, Cory Gardner, and Bill Johnson, introduced H.R. 1900, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act today, which would provide American families access to affordable and reliable energy.

The bipartisan bill would provide American families access to affordable and reliable energy by modernizing the application review process for natural gas pipeline projects.  H.R. 1900 would require the various agencies charged with reviewing these projects to complete their work within a firm timeline. Doing so would provide greater certainty for interstate natural gas pipeline projects, but most importantly, would benefit the millions of American families who would benefit from lower utility bills.

“This bipartisan piece of legislation makes common sense reforms to the natural gas pipeline permitting process,” said Congressman Pompeo. “We’re looking forward, modernizing how we approve natural gas pipelines as natural gas becomes more prevalent as a source of electricity generation.  “Consumers must have affordable and reliable energy choices.”
