Chairman Newhouse, Rep. Miller-Meeks Named 2022 Clean Energy Champions

CRES recognizes Western Caucus Members for their work to advance clean energy solutions

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chairman Dan Newhouse (WA-04) and Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks have been named the 2022 Clean Energy Champions by Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES).

“It is an honor to be named a CRES Clean Energy Champion,” said Chairman Newhouse. “In Central Washington, we are not strangers to clean energy innovation, and I have worked hard in Congress to support efforts to strengthen and expand these technologies – both at home and across the country. In order to remain the global clean energy leader, we must enact policies that promote increased domestic production, ensure a stable and reliable supply of critical minerals, reduce regulatory barriers for producers, and allow states and local communities to continue leading the way. CRES has been an incredible partner in this work, and I look forward to continuing to advance clean energy solutions and innovation in Central Washington, rural America, and beyond.”

“I’m honored to be named a Clean Energy Champion this year,” said Rep. Miller-Meeks. “Iowa leads the nation in renewable energy production and Iowans are constantly seeking ways to make clean energy more affordable, accessible, and abundant. As we continue pursuing clean energy production, I hope my colleagues will look to Iowa as an example of an ‘all of the above’ approach. In order to leave a healthier planet for our children and grandchildren, we must enact policies that benefit a variety of energy sources where they work best.”

“CRES is delighted to recognize Chairman Dan Newhouse and Representative Miller-Meeks as 2022 Clean Energy Champions,” said Heather Reams, President of Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES). “Through the Congressional Western Caucus, Chairman Newhouse and Rep. Miller-Meeks have championed commonsense, conservative solutions that grow the economy, strengthen America’s national security, and provide affordable energy to homes and businesses across America. Congratulations to you both on this well-earned designation.”

CRES annually honors Republican leaders who have gone above and beyond in driving and supporting clean energy legislation, and throughout National Clean Energy Week, Western Caucus Members are highlighting clean energy innovation and leadership in rural America.
