WASHINGTON, D.C. – Industry leaders and associations representing rural America released statements supporting the passage of H.Res. 987, a resolution denouncing the anti-American energy policies of the Biden Administration. Western Energy Alliance President Kathleen Sgamma: “Since taking office, President Biden’s administration has implemented 200 actions threatening American oil and natural gas. Families across the country are frustrated by high gasoline and home energy costs that are the hallmark of Bidenomics. They want a government that’s responsive to their needs, not the demands of extreme activists who seek to limit access to abundant, affordable energy that ensures a high quality of life for all. We appreciate Chairman Newhouse standing up for American consumers by writing and passing H. Res 987.” American Energy Alliance President Thomas Pyle: "Since day one, President Biden has made his objective clear -- to drive up prices for consumers by making it more difficult to produce energy in America. To that end, his administration has taken more than 200 steps to fuel inflation, cost jobs in and beyond the energy industry, and reduce our national security by making us more reliant on foreign countries for our energy resources. We appreciate the Western Caucus’ leadership to denounce these anti-American energy policies and offer our full support for H. Res. 987." Americans for Prosperity Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner: “H. Res. 987 perfectly describes the Biden Administration’s real-time disastrous experimentation with the American economy and people. For the last four years, Americans have faced the reality of Bidenomics in action without relief. During Energy Week, Americans for Prosperity was proud to Key Vote Alert H. Res. 987 to show the importance of Mr. Newhouse’s condemnation of President Biden’s treatment of domestic American energy. From the cancelling of mineral leases in Superior National Forest and Keystone XL Pipeline, to the implementation of the Bureau of Land Management’s ‘Landscape Health & Conservation Rule,’ Chairman Newhouse’s resolution serves as a demarcation for why energy policy needs to change for the American people in the face of a Big Government presidency. In the coming months, we are excited to join with Mr. Newhouse, as Chairman of the Western Caucus, to fight back against the “degrowth” and defeatist energy ideology of the Biden Administration and put forward pro-growth energy policies for all Americans, regardless of where they live. Final passage of H. Res. 987 serves as a marker for change in Washington, D.C., on energy policy.” Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions President Heather Reams: “During his first term, President Biden has taken numerous steps to stifle our nation's energy production – which is among the cleanest in the world – including his latest attack on American-made natural gas. Not only do his misguided actions raise costs for consumers and cost American jobs, but they directly contradict his own 'climate agenda' and increase global emissions. CRES thanks Rep. Newhouse for leading this resolution showcasing the Biden Administration’s shortsighted energy policies." Independent Petroleum Association of America Chief Operating Officer Dan Naatz: "Independent producers applaud Rep. Newhouse for his House-passed resolution, H.Res. 987, which denounces the Biden Administration's attacks on domestic energy. The actions listed in the resolution read like a laundry list of terribles for American oil and gas production. President Biden campaigned on the promise to end fossil fuels on public lands and has adequately kept his end of the deal by employing a 'death-by-regulation' approach. IPAA is grateful to Representative Newhouse for his leadership and willingness to fight for American families." Permian Basin Petroleum Association President Ben Shepperd: “America’s domestic energy policy is too important to be utilized as a political football when the oil and gas industry is vital to combat inflation, create jobs, and promote energy security for America and our allies. Whether it be short sided administrative attacks on LNG exports that our allies desperately need or the continual regulatory attacks on oil and gas producers, this administration continues to stand by its word that it intends to end the oil and gas industry. In spite of these attacks, oil and gas producers in the United States are responsible for the largest expansion of energy production and record emissions reductions at the same time! Americans need access to the affordable and abundant energy produced in America and don’t need an administration who will only target domestic producers while enabling unfriendly foreign actors.” Energy Workforce & Technology Council President Tim Tarpley: "The American energy industry is under attack by those who falsely claim that we cannot have both energy security and lower emissions. These misguided policies have included a pause on some LNG export permits, a decision which will actually increase emissions worldwide. The halt and slowdown on leasing on federal lands was equally misguided. Further, these irresponsible policies have impacted the American energy workforce, threatening the job security of the hardworking men and women who quite literally power the world. H.Res 987 counters the harmful energy policies implemented by the Administration and expresses a sense of Congress that we must protect American Energy Independence. Thank you, Congressman Newhouse, for standing up for the hard-working men and women of the American energy industry.” U.S. Oil & Gas Association President Tim Stewart: “The US Oil & Gas Association applauds the passage of H. Res 987 and expresses our gratitude to Chairman Newhouse for his willingness to roll up his sleeves and take it to an Administration that is in serious need of a course correction on energy policy. Someone needs to put the House on record condemning the Administration and the over 200 deliberate actions it has taken to drive up the cost of energy for American families, and the Chairman did that. The Western Caucus under his leadership demonstrates time and time again that they have the backs of American farmers and ranchers, miners and oil patch workers, small businesses, and their families.” The resolution was also supported by the American Exploration & Production Council, Texas Energy Alliance, and Heritage Action. |
