Caucus Applauds Nomination of Katharine MacGregor to be Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior

Today, Members of the Western Caucus released the following statements after President Trump announced his intent to nominate Katharine MacGregor to be the Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior: Western Caucus Chairman Paul Gosar (AZ-04): "I was fortunate enough to get to know Kate personally when she worked at the Natural Resources Committee. We fought together in the trenches, and I can assure you, no one works harder than Kate MacGregor. I look forward to her confirmation and her continued success." Chairman Emeritus Rob Bishop (UT-01): "The intent to nominate Kate is a no brainer decision by the Trump administration. Since leaving the Committee, she has brought invaluable experience to the Department and will continue to play an integral role in promoting proper stewardship of our natural resources. I look forward to continued collaboration with her and the Department." Vice-Chairman for Indian Affairs and Oceans Don Young (AK-At Large): "Kate MacGregor was a valuable member of the Natural Resources Committee team, and I know that those who have had the pleasure of working with her would agree. Courtesy of the Department of the Interior: MacGregor is currently serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff exercising the authority of the Deputy Secretary at the U.S. Department of the Interior. She has served in several positions at the Department since joining the Trump Administration in January 2017, including Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary - Lands and Minerals Management. MacGregor has worked on issues that include improving responsible domestic energy and mineral development, combating missing and murdered American Indians and Alaskan Natives, enhancing rural broadband, and executing on other Administration priorities. Prior to joining the Department, MacGregor worked on Capitol Hill for 10 years, serving for two Chairmen of the House Natural Resources Committee. She is a native of Pennsylvania and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia |
