Chairman Dan Newhouse (R-WA) released the following statement after President Joe Biden was sworn into office as the 46th President of the United States: “Several of President Biden’s initial priorities set a dangerous tone for the next four years in rural America,” said Chairman Newhouse. “In recent years, our nation has promoted energy innovation and worked toward American energy independence from hostile regimes like China and Russia. Rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement and halting work on the Keystone Pipeline XL are in direct contrast to the policies rural communities support to encourage economic development and create jobs for the American people. Throughout President Biden’s Administration, the Congressional Western Caucus will be committed to ensuring local voices are heard by the federal government. We will continue to stand up for rural America and work to promote the values and priorities of communities throughout the West and beyond.” |
