Celebrating National Agriculture Day

Celebrating National Agriculture Day

By Rep. Brad Finstad (MN-01)

Today is National Agriculture Day – when we celebrate all of the hard-working men and women across the agricultural community whose labor has blessed us with the highest quality, lowest cost food supply in the history of the world.

With the planting season around the corner, farmers across the country are preparing to take to the fields; cultivating the soil to produce a bountiful crop for market this fall. As a fourth-generation farmer, I know firsthand the challenges farmers have faced throughout the past several years, including increased input costs and interest rates, weather-related disasters, supply chain challenges, and burdensome regulations. These compounding issues have created a highly leveraged financial environment in farm country.

Agriculture is a critically important industry to my home state of Minnesota, and the overall U.S. economy. Farmers invest their time, sweat, and resources to produce the food and fuel our country relies on. As their elected representatives, the best way Congress can support our farmers is by writing and passing an effective five-year Farm Bill reauthorization.

It is a privilege to serve on the House Agriculture Committee, where I get the chance to work for the American farmers, ranchers, and producers that feed our country and the world. I’m proud to be an advocate for them in Congress.

To me, every day is National Agriculture Day. Strong farm policy benefits every American, every day. We have an opportunity before us to make historic and responsible investments across all twelve titles of the Farm Bill, demonstrating to the farmers, producers, and members across the ag community far and wide that we stand shoulder-to-shoulder in support of a Farm Bill that is written by farmers for farmers, and by rural America for rural America.
