Washington D.C., February 25, 2014—Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) released a statement in response to Monday’s Supreme Court hearing on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision to change the emission limits for energy providers regulated by the Clean Air Act:

“Yesterday’s hearing was an eye opening look into the regulatory patterns of the EPA, and an opportunity to shed sunlight on the overarching programs burdening our economy,” said Chairman Schweikert.

The energy producers in this country do not need a command and control regulatory regime built upon more paperwork, decades old science, and job-crushing programs, but instead, transparent, scientific regulations built on open data. I am hopeful that our Justices are able to separate the regulatory overreach of the EPA from the altruistic message of the agency’s supporters.”
