Today, the House Energy & Commerce Committee approved H.R. 6, Congressman Cory Gardner’s (CO-04) legislation on liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. H.R. 6, the Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act, will expedite the approval of U.S. LNG export applications. This legislation passed with a bipartisan vote of 33-18. “By passing H.R. 6, we are sending a clear signal to the world that the U.S. is serious about exporting LNG to our friends abroad," said Gardner. "But in reality, the geopolitical benefits are just a fringe benefit of a sound economic policy. Our nation is in need of high-paying, quality jobs. Coupled with the fact that the United States is blessed with an abundant source of natural gas, H.R. 6 presents us with the unique opportunity to strengthen our allies, weaken our enemies, and create economic opportunities here at home, all with just one piece of legislation.” |
