WASHINGTON, D.C. - As fire season begins and wildfires blaze across the Western United States, safety is the number one concern for the many Americans affected by these wildfires. While many brave firefighters work to extinguish the wildfires currently burning through Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming, responsible forest management practices are the best long term solution to ensuring that future wildfires do not cause the same levels of damage seen across the West today.
As fire season begins and wildfires blaze across the Western United States, safety is the number one concern for the many Americans affected by these wildfires. Congressman Steve Pearce, Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus, issued the following statement urging residents in fire areas to heed evacuation notices and other warnings given by fire fighting officials: “As we have seen by the tragedy of the woman whose remains were found in her burned home in Colorado, the situations we are facing are grave,” said Pearce. “Whenever warnings and notices are issued, residents must take heed and follow the advice of fire officials. I continue to extend my prayers for the families in harm’s way and for the men and women so bravely fighting these fires. I thank the firefighters and local officials for their tireless efforts and hope that each of you will remain safe.” |
