WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Chairman Dan Newhouse (R-WA) released the following statement after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) reintroduced the Green New Deal, a radical climate change proposal:

“The Green New Deal is a radical wish list that will decimate our economy, destroy good-paying American jobs, and exacerbate the damage already done to our energy sector by the Biden Administration,” said Rep. Newhouse.

He continued, “We have bipartisan, responsible solutions to protect our environment and conserve our resources, but radical Democrats continue to choose the partisan route that will expand the reach of the government, burden families and businesses in rural communities that are working to recover from a global pandemic, threaten American energy security, and give even more power to hostile regimes like China and Russia. The Green New Deal was unacceptable before, and it is unacceptable now.”
