Johnson Showcases Ohio Energy Producers on Western Caucus Field Tour

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Friday, May 20, Rep. Bill Johnson (OH-06) welcomed Chairman Dan Newhouse (WA-04) and Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) to eastern Ohio for a Congressional Western Caucus field tour.

“I was honored to host Reps. Dan Newhouse and Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Eastern Ohio,” said Rep. Johnson. “We met with energy producers and employees to learn how we can help Americans who are struggling with rising energy costs. We have the resources right here in the United States to power our country. Eastern Ohio is teeming with resources to do just that and create high-paying jobs – and my colleagues saw that firsthand on Friday. It’s my hope that the hardworking men and women I represent here in Ohio are encouraged in knowing there are many other Members of Congress fighting alongside me for our values and interests in Washington, DC, too.”

“Ohio’s energy producers are working to ensure Americans have access to reliable and affordable baseload energy,” said Chairman Newhouse. “In addition to leading the way for innovative emissions reduction solutions, the eastern Ohio energy sector contributes greatly to local communities and economies. I was proud to join Rep. Johnson in his home district – to hear the stories of these energy workers who have been directly impacted by the Biden Administration’s anti-American energy actions – and look forward to continuing to lift their voices in D.C.”

The Members toured the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Mine Safety Training Center to learn about the important safety measures put in place to protect Ohio’s miners. They hosted policy roundtables with local coal, oil, and natural gas producers to hear how they were working to strengthen American energy security and about their challenges and accomplishments. Lastly, they toured an active oil rig and well pad with Encino Energy and Williams.
