Western Caucus Members Visit Grand Teton National Park for Public Lands Field Tour

Last week, the Western Caucus Foundation hosted a Field Tour and Policy Discussion in Jackson, Wyoming, and Grand Teton National Park with 10 Congressional Western Caucus Members, three Senate Western Caucus Members, congressional staff, and stakeholders in attendance. Congressional Western Caucus Members attending included Western Caucus Vice Chair Adrian Smith (NE-03), and Representatives Harriet Hageman (WY-AL), Jodey Arrington (TX-19), Brian Babin (TX-36), Ron Estes (KS-04), Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05), Darrell Issa (CA-48), Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), Ralph Norman (SC-05), Greg Steube (FL-17), and in total, over 120 attendees participated.

Congressional Western Caucus Members heard firsthand from local leaders and stakeholders about the issues impacting Wyoming. The policy discussion focused on the importance of Wyoming’s public lands in America’s resource development, how to overcome roadblocks from the Biden-Harris Administration including the need for Endangered Species Act (ESA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reform, and rural connectivity. The group also heard from Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon about the abundant energy production, mining, grazing and ranching opportunities the state has to offer.

Caucus members also celebrated the 80th birthday of Smokey Bear. Remember- only you can prevent wildfires.

The U.S. Forest Service arranged various site visits in the Bridger-Teton National Forest to hear about grazing and recreational opportunities, highlighting the importance of the multiple use mandate for public lands.

The group visited Grand Teton National Park to hear updates from park officials and learn about the abundant recreational opportunities in the park.
